So I am just a wee bit behind in my posts. ACK! What is my excuse? Well - I rediscovered my second love after acting - photography. I started taking photos as a child when my dad gave me his old Olympus camera and some lenses and I just taught myself. Later I did photography in high school and even won two photography scholarships and loved it. But after college I got married and had to work and I decided I had to pick one love or the other - and acting was number one. But things have changed a lot in the entertainment business in LA in just the time I have been here - and I need to use my creativity on a regular basis. So rediscovering my talent for photography has been a joy.
So I have been busy in classes and doing as many photo shoots as I can. There is so much to learn with digital cameras changing and being updated every year. And I had little experience with Photoshop so that is a challenge as well. And I am studying lighting for the first time which is fun and exciting. So it has been wonderful.
But I have been going out. I have had several commercial auditions and I went out for supporting roles in indie films. I also had auditions for "Castle" (one of my favorite shows), "Parenthood", and some pilots.

December
So unfortunately my entire scene was cut out of "No Ordinary Family". I had such a great time filming the pilot and got great feedback from the director and producers. Then when the show was picked up I was thrilled. Then I was even in the official ABC promos. And then the show airs...and there is nothing like the awful feeling of watching a show and realizing "oh...my scene should have been right there.." This is not the first time this has happened - but it still hurts. Yet they still put my name in the credits!
Since then I have had some more auditions ("NCIS: Los Angeles", "Victorious", etc). And I went in and did a voice over for my Merck commercial so I think it will run in even more areas of the US (I have yet to see if in LA).
Hopefully things will look up in 2011!

September
So "No Ordinary Family" is set to premiere this Tuesday, September 28th at 8pm on ABC. My scene appears in the first half of the show - so I am excited!
The last few months I have gone out for some national commercials. I also had several tv auditions and I went to producers for "Private Practice" (ABC) and "Modern Family" (ABC).

Yipee - "No Ordinary Family" was picked up by ABC!!! Very exciting...and I just watched the trailer (on You Tube) and I'm in it! I guess that means my scene makes it into the pilot - which is fantastic. I hope they will need the Guidance Counselor back again.
And I heard my commercial is airing is parts of the US. Hopefully it will air in LA and the rest of the country sometime soon.

April
I went to producers for the Disney show “Good Luck Charlie”. I also went in for one of my favorite shows “Medium”. I also went down to San Diego to audition for a new FX show called “Terriers”.
I went in for the ABC pilot “No Ordinary Family” and I BOOKED IT! Yippee!
The show stars Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz. From the ABC press release:
The Powells are pretty much your average, everyday American family. That is until their plane crashes in the Amazon jungle. After that, well, let's just say the Powells are a little less ordinary. Jim is a frustrated police sketch artist married to Stephanie, a brilliant and successful scientist. Although they still love each other, their marriage has lost some of its spark. All of that changes, though, when Stephanie takes Jim and their two teenage kids along on a research trip to the Amazon. The Powell's plane crashes into a swampy river; they manage to escape, but, their pilot, unfortunately, isn't so lucky. As the Powells gratefully return to their old lives, they are shocked to discover that they have suddenly developed some rather extraordinary abilities. Jim is super strong with amazing reflexes. Stephanie can suddenly move at lightning speed. Daphne can hear everyone's thoughts including those of her 16-year-old-boyfriend, ick! Then there's JJ, who miraculously goes from clueless to brainiac, seemingly overnight. The Powells are reinvigorated by their new powers, but they quickly discover that the toughest challenges may be the most ordinary ones. Sure, they can stop criminals, but all the super powers in the world can't fix emotional problems. The Powells better get their act together, soon, though, because that pilot they left for dead at the bottom of a river... he just woke up. From Brother & Sisters' Greg Berlanti and Jon Feldman comes a wild new dramedy about a totally relatable family who just happen to be a little bit amazing.
So it sounds like a really great pilot and I hope it airs. I play the guidance counselor at the high school. I filmed last week at this beautiful private high school in Los Angeles. My scene was with Julie Benz and she was wonderful to work with. Hopefully the show will get picked up and they will need to see the guidance counselor again and again!

January
So I have been having some auditions lately - so that is good news.
In the fall I went to producers for the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement". I also auditioned for "Brothers & Sisters (ABC) and went to producers for the Disney show "Zeke and Luther". I was put on tape for producers for the new Jerry Bruckheimer show "Miami Trauma". I also went out for an indie film and was put on tape for producers for the CBS sitcom "Accidently on Purpose".
This year I was put on tape for producers for "Ghost Whisperer " (CBS) and the new NBC show "Parenthood". And I just booked my first national commercial. It is for Merck and I filmed a few weeks ago. Woo hoo!

August
August
Boy – it has been a while since I posted some news. I had lots of issues with my website (I had to change web hosting companies) – so that was a hassle. But it now has been transferred and seems to be working well.
I have good news – I have new representation. I signed with a great new management group. My contacts are Alison Buck and Susan Ferris at Bohemia Group. And they set up a meeting with a commercial agent –Aqua Talent Agency- and they signed me as well.
Things had been really slow because of worries about a strike – but they seem to be picking up. I went to producers for “The Bill Engvall Show” (TBS) and for “Ruby and the Rockits” (ABC Family). I auditioned for a lead role in a Movie of the Week. I also went out for “Lie to Me” (FOX) and the new sitcom “The Middle” (ABC).
